Shoulder Stability Drill (SSD)

Written by - PLAYWORK

With shoulder discomfort being more and more frequent, we've decided to provide you with a shoulder stability drill (SSD). Yes, the term itself sounds quite military because it was mainly applied to soldiers who have been injured or had any condition that caused the reduced shoulder stability. However, anyone who's overusing their shoulder by repetitive tasks can feel reduced stability and benefit from SSD.

Once you start feeling stiffness, soreness, or tenderness in your shoulders, it's time to treat it. Otherwise, it can turn into chronic pain, and then it will be much harder to resolve the issue.

Shoulder Stability Drill Exercises

Here are some of the most common exercises for those who feel pain or stiffness in their shoulders.

1. I raise

Lie on your stomach with your head slightly up and feet together. Put your arms above your head on the ground, forming an I with your body. Your thumbs and fingers should be extended and jointed. Keep in this position for 30 seconds and repeat it 10 times.

2. T raise

Put your body in the same position as for the I raise, but this time keep your hands spread on the ground, forming T with your body. Keep in this position for 30 seconds and repeat it 10 times.

3. Y raise

Again, keep your body in the same position, but put your arms under 45 degrees from your body, forming a Y letter. Keep it in this position for 30 seconds and repeat it 10 times.

4. L raise

Put your body in the same position, holding your hands sideward and bent under 90 degrees angle in elbows. That way, you're forming the letter L. Keep it in this position for 30 seconds and repeat 10 times.

5. W raise

You should be in the same position as for all of the above, but this time, bend your elbows downwards under 45 degrees angle. That way, you'll form the letter W, as the name itself suggests. Stay in this position for 30 seconds and repeat 10 times.

These are all the military exercises for the shoulder stability drill, recommended to be used in case of shoulder pain and stiffness. Take it easy and with no pressure. Ensure you don't force yourself too much since you can experience cardiac arrest or do more extensive damage than before.

Playwork Smart Therapy Ball For SSD

PLAYWORK has come up with a new medical solution for different kinds of injuries and medical conditions, including hands, shoulders, back, and entire body. This innovative CE-approved medical tool is called a smart therapy ball and can help you increase moving range, stability, muscle strength, and reduce pain. It's meant to be used for different physical therapy and help patients get back to their old lives.

So, how can this smart therapy ball help with shoulder injuries?

First of all, it's made of rubber, meaning it requires certain pressure\weight bearing to be pressed and squeezed. Once you apply this pressure, you include all of your joints, from the shoulder through the elbow to wrists. And that's the way to practice all of your joints and their coordination.

When it comes to shoulder stability, smart playball offers different games. Most of them include holding the ball against the wall and pressing, squeezing, rolling, and rotating it. This way, you're practicing stability, but also muscle strength and moving range. Your shoulders will become more flexible, and doing everyday tasks will become much more manageable. When faced with shoulder pain, we often avoid doing even small chores to avoid more pain. That's why smart therapy balls force patients to move and go all the way to the border with pain in order to increase their possibilities.

This tool is unique precisely because it can measure the impact of the therapy on your trauma and tell you exactly what to do to recover faster. The ball itself is attached to the computer, and everything you do is screened and evaluated. That way, at the end of the therapy session, you can tell which exercise was the most beneficial and repeat it more next time. Also, if there are any negative effects, you'll be able to see them and reduce them.

While using traditional therapy balls is always recommended, using smart playball is way more advanced. It gives you all the new ways to have fun, play games, and monitor your recovery process. Since therapy itself can be dull, using smart playball will ensure that you're enjoying the process, even if you just want to beat your old record. It's especially effective with children since it's much more appealing than standard rehabilitation.

Using a smart therapy ball, you'll be relaxed, in a good mood, and on the way to recovery in no time.
